The invention relates to a method for dry-cleaning the cutting or shaving head of a hair-cutting or shaving device, which is driven by an electric motor, to remove small particulate contaminants, such as shaving dust and/or cut-off hairs, and a device for implementing the method. A low pressure region is generated below the cutting blade in the interior of the shaving head casing which accommodates the shaving head, which low pressure region causes air to be sucked through the razor blade. Turbulence is imparted to this air in the shaving head casing and is guided through and against the shaving head. Then the air, which has been mixed with the contaminants, is guided through a dust separator in an air escape channel up to the air outlet aperture of the latter.
