Method for monitoring a digital hierarchically structured information transmission network

Analog transmission paths are frequently monitored by means of so-called line or group pilots. Digital transmission paths are monitored by means of the frame structure of the transmitted digital signal. To ensure that the transmitted signal arrives at the predetermined device, a code identifying the latter is inserted in a time slot of the time division multiplex frame in the multiplexing device and/or line terminating device in a digital information transmission network. Monitoring of the digital information transmission network and control of an equivalent network is possible in a simple manner by separating the code from the information signals and evaluating the code.
