PURPOSE:To enable a registration adjustment within an extent of one dot by delaying an output signal from a beam detector by an optional time, and thereby optionally setting the writing start position of an image. CONSTITUTION:An output signal from a photodiode 24 that detects a beam is amplified by a signal amplification part 25, waveform-trimmed by a waveform trimmer 26, and inputted to a delay line 27, in order to input signals having various delay times to a data selector 28. Such a selector 28 is set at a desired value by, for instance, a digital switch 29, so that a signal delayed by a desired dealy time is outputted from it 28. An image clock synchronizes with this signal, and the writing is started from a desired position of writing. With such constitution, the adjustment of image recording position within the extent of one dot is made possible, and as a result, an image excellent in quality free from image- slipping can be obtained.
