PURPOSE:To obtain a drum for supporting an image bearing member superior in strength and acuracy, etc., and capable of forming a sharp image by impact extruding aluminum to form a drum having strength in a specified range and a small number of defects. CONSTITUTION:Aluminum is melted, degassed, filtered to remove involved matters, cast into a slab planed, heat rolled, and cold rolled to form a plate, and press punched to form a disc. After impact extrusion working, it is cut and mirror finished to obtain said intended drum for supporting an image bearing member having a hardness (Hv) of 40-60 and a number of >=20mum sized defects of <=0.01/cm<2>. An electro-photographic sensitive body having a small number of defective products due to the presence of black spots on the formed image is obtained by forming a photoconductive layer as an image bearing nember on said supporting drum. |
