In a process for producing a measurement electrode for analytical chemistry, electrochemistry and the like and in a measurement electrode produced according to this process, it is proposed to produce the measurement electrode from plastic by an injection moulding process and in this process to embed a fibre diaphragm made of a filament or fibre material, preferably silicon dioxide or ceramic fibres, directly in the measurement electrode tube by injection- moulding encapsulation, the fibres arranged parallel to one another being first bandaged by enveloping with a shrink tube firmly enclosing them by heating and the bandaged fibre diaphragm being subsequently introduced into a plastic carrier tube, which is then inserted into the cavity of the injection mould, so that, by virtue of this protection, the diaphragm to be injection-moulding encapsulated retains the structural support and also the open internal labyrinth-system structure necessary for the diaphragm properties.
