A device for producing a charging current for accumulators, in the case of which one or more interconnected solar cells (3, 12) supply an electrical current as a result of the incidence of light waves (2) from a natural or artificial light source, which electrical current is used as a charging current for the accumulators (4, 13). For cordless electrical apparatuses, a small lamp (5) which is operated from the electricity mains is provided in a fixed housing (7) into which the cordless electrical apparatus can be inserted, one or more solar cells (12) being located in the plug-in housing lower part (10) of said electrical apparatus, which solar cells (12) can be illuminated by the small lamp (5) and are directly connected to the accumulators (13) via leads (14). <IMAGE>
