A heat exchanger element, in particular for liquid/air heat exchangers, is presented which has a tube, through which the medium to be cooled flows, and a multiplicity of radially directed and closely packed cooling fins which are made from the sheet-metal material and are mounted on said tube. The cooling fins each consist of two halves joined to one another and are produced in one piece in the manner of a package for an intended production length of the heat exchanger element by folding a continuous strip of sheet-metal material in a meandering fashion. The cooling fins produced in this way are mounted on the tube with their connecting webs spaced from one another and with their mutually facing lateral areas nested in one another, and are connected to one another there in a self-closed or force-closed fashion. <IMAGE>
