Power transmission units comprise input-side and output-side rotary parts which are mounted coaxially to one another in a housing and can be turned relative to one another. Arranged between the input-side rotary parts and the output-side rotary parts is a clutch (13) which can be moved in the axial direction in order to bring about torque transmission between the input-side rotary parts and the output-side rotary parts. A movable pressure piston is provided for the engagement of the clutch. In known power transmission units, the pressure line for the pressure-actuation of the piston is passed through the rotatable parts and through parts fixed relative to them. This requires the use of dynamic seals, which are subject to wear and therefore have a tendency to leak. The power transmission unit has a pressure chamber (35) which is bounded by the piston (39) and the housing (33) and is used for the pressure-actuation of the piston (39). The pressure chamber is connected to a pressure source (44) and is subjected to pressure by the latter. The pressure source (44) is also used to control the pressure of the pressurised fluid in the pressure chamber (39). The power transmission unit is used in four-wheel drive motor vehicles. <IMAGE>
