Radiopharmaceutical composition for myocardial scintigraphy and process for its preparation

The invention relates to radiopharmaceuticals which preferentially accumulate in myocardial tissue. The invention particularly relates to a radiopharmaceutical composition which contains as effective radioactive compound a Tc(III)-DMPE complex with a chloride ion and a hydroxyl group as coligands. A process for preparing this composition entails technetate(VII) being reacted with the reducing ligand DMPE in one step to give the desired complex by, to prepare the inactive precursor (instant kit), together with the DMPE . HCl from aqueous alcoholic solution, additives of mannitol and either a dicarboxylic acid, an aminopolycarboxylic acid or a polyaminocarboxylic acid being lyophilised, and a 1/1 mixture of pertechnetate generator eluate and propylene glycol being added to this lyophilised mixture, and the mixture being heated until conversion to (Tc(DMPE)2Cl(OH))<+> is complete. After neutralisation with NaHCO3 solution, the solution is ready for injection. This composition permits images of the myocardium which can be satisfactorily evaluated to be obtained up to 4 hours after the injection.
