PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of jammed sheets in a storage device for sheets discharged from a copying machine and the like by properly reversing and arraying the sheets for storage even when the intervals of the sheets transferred from an image formation device are short. CONSTITUTION:When the trailing end of a sheet 'P' has been released from feed and rotation bodies 7 and 8, normal and reverse rotation bodies 14 and 15 are rotated at a secondary speed lower than a primary speed. When said trailing end has reached a predetermined position, the rotation of the bodies 14 and 15 is reversed at the secondary speed and made to bite sheet discharge rotation bodies 19 and 20 rotating at a fourth speed, thereby discharging the sheet 'P'. And during the discharge of the sheet 'P', the speed of the sheet discharge rotation bodies 19 and 20 is adjusted to a tertiary speed lower than the fourth speed and the speed of the bodies 14 and 15 is restored to the primary speed, thereby enabling taking in a succeeding sheet. When the preceding sheet 'P' has been caught by the bodies 14 and 15, the speed of said sheet 'P' can be made higher, thereby enabling enlarging the intervals of sheets fed by the feed rotation bodies 7 and 8.
