PURPOSE:To immobilize easily and tightly an electrolytically formed compd. of metal phthalocyanines in a polymer gel, by immersing an electrode whose surface is coated with the polymer gel in an electrolyte where metal phthalocyanines are dissolved and electrolyzing it. CONSTITUTION:A metal phthalocyanine (or its deriv.) is dissolved in high concn. in a solvent such as dimethylformamide, and water, an electrolyte etc. are added therein to prepare an electrolyte. A polymer gel comprising a three- dimensional network polymer, etc., prepd. by copolymerizing isopropylacrylamide, methylenebisacrylamide, etc., is formed on the surface of an electrode. Then, this electrode is immersed in the above-described electrolyte, which is then electrolyzed to deposit an electrolytically formed compd. of the metal phthalocyanine (or its deriv.) in the polymer gel and to immobilize thereby the metal phthalocyanine (or its deriv.) in the polymer gel. A thin film acting as a negative resistance element, various modified electrodes, etc., can be thereby obtained.
