摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an optical half adder by giving one output of plural optical demultiplexer to a control input of a semiconductor optical switch via a bistable semiconductor laser whose output optical wavelength is shorter than an input optical wavelength and supplying the other output into a signal input via an optical multiplexer. CONSTITUTION:Input lights A, B are inputted respectively to an optical demultiplexer, one of the light divided into two by the optical demultiplexer is supplied to the bistable semiconductor laser 31 and the other is fed to the optical multiplexer 4. The laser 31 outputs an output light having a shorter wavelength than the wavelength of the input light. The output light of the laser 31 is fed to a control input terminal of the semiconductor optical switch 5 as a control light C and the output light of the multiplexer 4 is fed to the signal input terminal of the switch 5 as a signal light S. The AND of the signal lights A, B is obtained from the output 53 of the switch 5 and the exclusive OR is obtained from the output 54 to constitute a half adder using the output 54 as the addition output and using the output 53 as a carry output.
