PURPOSE:To change incident luminous flux in state and impose optical modulation by controlling the temperature of a liquid layer near a heating resistor and moving a granular body in liquid. CONSTITUTION:When a voltage is applied to a heating resistor 6b, the granular body 7 in an air bubble is present near the heating resistor, but when the voltage to the heating resistor 6b is cut off and a heating resistor 6c is applied with the voltage, the granular body 7 moves to near the heating resistor 6c. Thus, the temperature difference is generated in the liquid to move the granular body to near the resistor which is powered on in an element shown in a figure. For the purpose, a heating resistor to be applied with the voltage is selected to control the position of the granular body. Thus, the granular body is moved to vary the wave surface of luminous flux incident to the element, performing the optical modulation. |
