PURPOSE:To measure the water in powder and granules with high accuracy by measuring the transmittance of the powder and granules on a belt conveyor with the neutron and gamma rays released from the same ray source and the neutrons in an energy range different therefrom and processing arithmetically the same. CONSTITUTION:The fast neutron and gamma rays radiated from a radiation source 2 transmit a blet conveyor 21 and powder and granules 20 and are detected with a detector 20. The output pulses thereof are discriminated to the pulses of the neutron and the gamma rays by a waveform discriminating circuit 10 via discriminator (DS)8 of a low discriminating level and are counted by counters 13, 14. On the other hand, the detection pulses are passed through a DS9 of a high discriminating level, a delay circuit 11 and a simultaneous circuit 12, by which the pulses of only the neutron are taken out and are counted with a counter 15. The count values from the counters 13-15 are inputted to an arithmetic device 17 and the water value is calculated by using the absorption coeffts. of three kinds of radiation and the radiation intensity of the radiation source stored in a memory 16. |
