PURPOSE:To suppress the fluctuation of heat to be built up in a thermal head with a high accuracy by determining whether a build-up of heat in a unit heating element for printing a target dot in a current line must is allowed to proceed or lowered based upon a print energy information to a unit heating element employed for printing a corresponding dot in the former line. CONSTITUTION:A print data Di for a target bit stored in a shift register 1, print data Di+1, Di-1 for adjoining bit and an applying energy information Eo for a target bit in the former line stored in a memory 3 are inputted to an energy determining section 2. After the information Eo is transferred from the memory 3 to the determining section 2, an applying energy information C for a current line being fed from the determining section 2 is written is same address. In such a manner, the applying energy information Eo of the memory 3 is updated sequentially. For example, two types of energy, i.e. a quantity for proceeding a build-up of heat in a unit heating element and a quantity for energy then said print energy is switched for every process of continuous printing by means of the same unit heating element, thus driving the unit heating element. |
