It has remarkable reaction acceleration effect and enables the speedup of molding. A prepolymer for diallyl phthalate resin can be synthesized from the compound. It is also useful as a resin for electronics or an engineering resin. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting the compound of formula II (Y is OH) with the compound of formula III (Z is OH) in the absence of a solvent or in a solvent (e.g. benzene) in the presence or absence of a catalyst (e.g. sulfuric acid, p-toluenensulfonic acid, etc.) at 70-180 deg.C.
