PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity by resetting a signal output line once for plural picture elements while not using voltage negative feedback of a preamplifeir and integrating and reading a signal charge between the resets thereby reducing random noise. CONSTITUTION:The level of a horizontal signal line 28 and a signal output line 24 is reset to a voltage of a voltage source 11 in the timing of a reset pulse RP2 during the horizontal blanking period. The picture information integrated sequentially on the signal output line 24 at the horizontal scanning period is amplified by a transistor (TR) 40. Then the result is sampled again by a picture element integration circuit comprising TRs 41, 43-45 again to hold the signal. Thus, the random noise generated by the preamplifier is reduced by 10dB or over to form a solid-state image pickup device with high sensitivity.
