PURPOSE:To prevent the particle interface corrosion at the spotwelded parts of a collector of positive electrode plates, and to improve the high temperature durability, by applying a porous body of a stainless thin steel plate of the ferrite family including Cr, Ti, and Ta for a collector of sheet-form thin positive electrode plates. CONSTITUTION:In a cell made by composing sheet-form manganese dioxide positive electrodes 3 and sheet-form lithium negative electrodes 2 in a spiral through separators 5, a ferrite family stainless thin steel plate containing 17 to 20wt% of Cr and 0.5 to 0.8wt% of Ti plus Ta is applied as a positive electrode collector. The Cr produces an inert layer over the surface essentially, to maintain the anticorrosion property, while Ti and Ta have the affinity with the residual C and N in the steel which is utilized to make TiC and TaN to fix such elements in the metallic crystals. Therefore, when such a collector is used for a high rate discharge cylindrical lithium cell with an organic electrolyte, the anticorrosion property and the high temperature durability of the collector for the sheet-form mangnese dioxide positive electrodes can be improved. |
