PURPOSE:To reduce NOX, by a method wherein a fuel nozzle is penetrated through the closed end of the outer cylinder of a combustion chamber and the direction of air stream, supplied to the circumference of the fuel nozzle, is biased so as to be asymmetrical with respect to the central axis of the nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A first stage fuel nozzle 9 is attached to the closed end of the outer cylinder of a combustion chamber. An opening 32 for supplying air to the circumference of the nozzle 9 is provided. An air deflecting plate 33 is attached between an inner wall 23 in front of a liner cap 31 and an inner cylinder 13 to bias air stream 34 from the opening 32 toward the side of the inner cylinder 13 at all times. The air stream around the nozzle and a flame 35 are rolled by the ejector effect of the biased airflow whereby eddy current type flame retaining stream 29 is formed. According to this method, stabilized combustion may be realized and NOX may be reduced.
