PURPOSE:To produce spherical silver particles having a narrow dispersed particle size distribution when an aqueous soln. of silver nitrate is reduced to produce silver particles, by reducing the soln. at a specified reaction temp. with a reducing gas under a specified partial pressure. CONSTITUTION:When an aqueous soln. of silver nitrate is reduced to produce silver particles, the soln. is reduced at high temp. and pressure by introducing a reducing gas to form silver particles. The reaction temp. is regulated to 50-150 deg.C and the reducing gas is kept under 5-30kg/cm<2> partial pressure. Gaseous H2, CO or SO2 is used as the reducing gas.
