PURPOSE:To easily control the accuracy of a distance between object images at the reading part of a moving document and a still document, by performing the reading of the moving and the still documents using the same reading transparent plate. CONSTITUTION:A reading transparent plate 23(reading glass) is provided over a documant reading part 21, and a moving document reading part 22. The reading of the moving document is performed by resting a mobile optical device 37 beneath a moving document supporting plane 23b, and setting a document 25 at a prescribed position on the upper plane of a closing cover 35. The document 25 is delivered in order by a paper supplying roller 28, and a carrying roller 29, and passes the moving document supporting plane 23b on the upper plane of the reading glass 23, and is read by the mobile optical device 37 resting beneath the plane. The reading of the still document is performed by moving the mobile optical device 37 from the read start point C of the still document reading part 21 in a subscan direction represented by arrow head A, keeping a state that the closing cover 35 is opened, and a document 24 is placed on the still document supporting plane 23a of the reading glass 23, and the document is pressed by a document presser 26.
