PURPOSE:To obtain a data input device which has good operability and can decrease remarkably the time required for moving a cursor, by converting plural specific keys placed on a keyboard, to cursor moving keys. CONSTITUTION:In case of moving a cursor displaced in some area on a screen, to other area on the screen, first of all, plural specific keys placed on a keyboard are converted to cursor moving keys by depressing an exclusive key 34, and the cursor moving key whose state correspond to the area to which it is desired to move the cursor is depressed. As a result, from a multiplexer 32, information for showing a fact that these keys have been depressed simultaneously is sent to a microprocessor 40. Subsequently, by a cursor control program 41 contained in the microprocessor 40, a location data corresponding to the cursor moving key which has been depressed is read out of a character key location correspondence table, and based on it, the cursor on the screen is moved.
