A mower (40) has a frame (46) consisting of a top plate (48) and downwardly extending side plates (50). Reel adjustment members (68) are pivotably connected to the side plates and carry the ends of the reel shaft (64) to adjust the position of the reel (56). A bed knife (92) behind the reel is carried by two side arms (98) which extend upwardly and forwardly to the front and top of the mower (40). The side arms (98) are pivoted at their rear (106) to the frame side plates (50) and are joined at their tops by a transverse bar (100). The transverse bar (100) is adjustably connected to the frame top plate (48) by an adjustment device (108, 110, 112, 114) to adjust the position of the bed knife (92). The rear roller (116) is carried by further side arms (132) also pivoted to the frame side plates (50) and connected at their tops by a second transverse bar (134) which is connected by an adjustment device (136, 138, 140, 142) to the frame top plate (48). The mower (40) is suspended at its center and drive is applied through a shaft (192, 195) extending over the mower (40) generally parallel to the axis of the reel (56), to prevent torque changes from varying the height of an end of the mower (40). |
