NEW MATERIAL:A suspended fine material flocculation activator PF-102 having the following physico-chemical properties. (1) Flocculable in a very small amount. (2) Stably exhibiting flocculation activity at 2-9pH. (3) Exhibiting the flocculation activity at 0-100 deg.C. (4) Although the flocculation activity is inhibited with carbonic acid and Fe2(SO4)3, other various ions will not affect the flocculation property without any effect of NaCl and K2SO4 up to 1M. (5) Elementary analysis; N 8.64%; C, 42.80%; H, 6.87%. Expressed by the general formula. (6) Color reactions; ninhydrin (+), xanthoprotein (-), Ehrlich (-), Molisch (-), phenol-sulfuric acid method (+ or -) and Le Rosen test (-). (7) Light brown color. USE:A flocculant for suspended fine materials. PREPARATION:A slat is added to a culture fluid of Paecilomyces I-1 (FERM-P No. 3928) which is an imperfect fungus separated from the humus layer in WAKAYAMA Prefecture to deposit the aimed PF-102 which is a flocculation active substance.
