PURPOSE:To economically produce an Ni-Ti alloy which contains impurities at the lower ratio at the temp. lower than the eutectic temp. by heating a green compact mixture composed of Ni powder and Ti powder in a high vacuum to activate the particle surface thereof, then subjecting the green compact mixture to quick heating. CONSTITUTION:The green compact mixture composed of the Ni powder and the Ti powder is heated in the high vacuum of preferably <=1X10<-5>Torr by heating up the same gradually under the condition of 5-30 deg.C/min heating-up rate. The above-mentioned green compact induces gas generation at about 600 deg.C and the particle surface thereof is activated. The green compact is quickly heated at >=40 deg.C/min heating-up rate at the point of the time when the above- mentioned gas generation begins. The release of the max. volume of the gas is thereby generated at about 815 deg.C lower than the eutectic temp. based on the ratio between the two metals, by which an exothermic reaction is induced and the above-mentioned green compact is alloyed by melting. The resulted Ni-Ti alloy is preferably held for about 10min-2hr in an about 830-900 deg.C temp. range to uniform the alloy.
