PURPOSE:To improve the erasure efficiency and to reduce the production cost by imbedding a soft magnetic material having a higher magnetic characteristic than the saturation magnetic flux density of the soft magnetic material constituting a magnetic core half to a slot provided to a magnetic core half. CONSTITUTION:A slot 31c corresponding to a track width W leading a magnetic core half 31 and a nonmagnetic material 31a of a tape slide face of one magnetic core half 31 corresponding to a tape inlet side in magnetic a couple of core halves 31, 32 made of a soft magnetic ferrite member opposed to each other, is provided and the metallic core 34 made of the soft magnetic material having a higher magnetic characteristic than the saturated magnetic flux density of the soft magnetic material constituting the magnetic core half 31 is imbedded in the slot 31c. Thus, the forming face of the magnetic gap 35 is formed by the combination of a metallic group magnetic material with high saturation magnetic flux density and a ferrite member having a lower saturation magnetic flux member to obtain an excellent erasure characteristic erasing a recording medium having a high coercive force such as a metal magnetic body.
