PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition containing a mixture of 3,7- dichloroquinoline-8-carboxylic acid and another compound as active component and exhibiting excellent synergistic herbicidal effect against annual and perennial weeds at a low rate of application compared with the separate use of each component. CONSTITUTION:1pt.wt. of 3,7-dichloroquinoline-8-carboxylic acid is mixed with 0.2-5pts.wt. of 2-(2,4-dichloro-3-methylphenoxy)propionanilide and/or 1-10pts.wt. of 4-(2,4-dichloro-3-methylbenzoyl)-1,3-dimethyl-5-(p-methylp-henacyloxy) pyrazole and the mixture is used as an active component of the present composition. The composition is applied at a rate of 0.2-5kg of the mixed active component per 1ha. EFFECT:It can be used from immediately after the transplantation of rice to the vigorously growing stage of weed. The herbicidal effect continues over a long period. The generation of weeds can be inhibited to the harvesting period of paddy rice plant. It has absolutely no phytotoxicity to paddy rice plant.
