PURPOSE:To remove uneven density in a sleeve axis direction by forming two upper and lower passages opened to the side of a developing sleeve, using one of them as a developer feeding and carrying path and other as a developed developer carrying path and independently functioning upper and lower screws. CONSTITUTION:The upper and lower passages 2a, 2b divided into upper and lower parts through a horizontal partition 5 are formed in a developing device 2, the upper and lower screws 6, 7 are arranged in each passage, both the ends parts A, B of the developer 2 are extended longer than the sleeve 3, and the partition 5 is cut off on the end parts of the screws to communicate the upper and lower passages 2a, 2b. In case of rotating the sleeve 3 together with an image carrier 1 in the forward direction, developed developer is dropped from the cut part 5b into the lower passage 2b, carried to the extension part A by the lower screw 7, pushed up to the upper passage 2a by a stirring impellar 10, and carried to the developing sleeve 3 side by the upper screw 6 to circulate the developer. When a toner density drop signal is generated from the detector 9, new toner is supplied from an aperture 11, and carried to the upper passage 2a while being stirred and mixed by the impellar 10.
