PROCESSING METHOD FOR LENS STOCK

PURPOSE:To form a lens with little fluctuation of weight in high processing precision by using a formed whetstone to impart a notch for a round rodlike glass stock and individually breaking it and thereafter subjecting it to specular surface processing by etching. CONSTITUTION:The end part of a glass rod 11 is fixed by a collet chuck 12 or the like and rotated. A diamond wheel 13 wherein the circumference is a V-shape and the angle of the tip is right angle is arranged in the orthogonal direction for the rotary central axis thereof and rotated at high velocity and the glass rod 11 is notched while leaving a dimension (d). After transferring the diamond wheel 13 and successively notching the glass rod, the breaking is performed in the nonbroken part. A lens stock 16 having nearly desirable both conical surfaces and a specular state is obtained by subjecting broken parts 15 to etching processing.
