PURPOSE:To obtain a stable contact state between a magnetic head and a magnetic disk by providing an adjusting mechanism making the relative position between the magnetic head and a medium to at least one of the intake or exit side of the medium. CONSTITUTION:The rear end of a reference face 9 is moved in vertical direction 17 by turning an adjustment screw 16 fitted to a plate 15, the face 9 is driven in a direction 18 around a rotary shaft 13 and the contact face position of the reference face 9 with a flexible disk is adjusted minutely. Further, a control spring 14 always keeps the contact of the rear end of the reference face 9 with the tip of the screw 16. The height of the reference face 9 is adjusted by turning the screw 16 so as to maximize the reproduced output of 1st and 2nd electromagnetic transducers while an electric signal from the magnetic disk is being reproduced by the 1st and 2nd electromagnetic transducers thereby moving the face 9 vertically. Since the height of the reference face 9 is finely adjusted simply in such way, the stable contact between the magnetic head and the magnetic disk is obtained.
