PURPOSE:To prevent a zone to be welded from being oxidized and the occurrence of splash flash by blowing up from an outlet oxidation preventive gas introduced from an inlet of a cylindrical vessel fitted to a spot welding electrode rod through a gas permeable member stored therein. CONSTITUTION:The gas permeable member 14 such as steel wool, etc., is stored in the cylindrical vessel 11 provided with the inlet 12, the outlet 13 and an end plate 15 and held by a meshy holding member 16 and an annular cover 17. The inside peripheral surface of the outlet 13 side of the vessel 11 is made the same as the inside peripheral surface of the above-mentioned vessel 11 or enlarged. The vessel 11 is fitted to a spot welding electrode rod 10 to constitute a discharge nozzle for the spot welding. The flow velocity and pressure of the oxidation preventive gas introduced in the vessel 11 from the inlet 12 are moderated and uniformalized by the above-mentioned gas permeable member 14 and the gas is discharged from the outlet 13 and the zone to be welded is protected without causing the winding or penetration of air.
