PURPOSE:To obtain a battery active material available for a battery having high electromotive force, superior voltage flatness, and high energy density, by making at least one part contain carbon fluoride which is formed by fluorinating vapor phase carbon fiber obtained by fluidized-bed method. CONSTITUTION:Vapor phase carbon fiber obtained by fluidized-bed method is fluorinated for 96 hours at 300 deg.C and 760 mm Hg fluorine pressure, to form (CF)n type carbon fluoride. The carbon fluoride is elementarily analyzed by an oxygen analysis method and identified by X-ray diffraction, becoming a sample X. Vapor carbon fiber obtained by substrate method, on the other hand, becomes a sample A in case its fibrous diameter being 10muphi, and becoming a sample B in case its fibrous diameter being 5-8mugamma, serving as raw-material carbonic material. Fluorination is performed for 72 hours at 340 deg.C, 450 mm Hg in fluorine pressure, and 310 mm Hg in nitrogen pressure. A F/C ratio of combined carbon fluoride (CF)n is expressed in 1.16 of A and 1.09 of B. Respective said species of carbon fluoride are used to from a battery. |
