The apparatus for intermittent transport of a web (band) comprises a servo motor 20 for driving the transport rollers 5 by means of a first drive mechanism 32 and the transport units 10 by means of a second drive mechanism 38. The second drive mechanism 38 comprises a unidirectional clutch mechanism 43 for slowing down the braking of the transport units 10 from a suitable time with respect to the transport rollers 5, so that the web (band) 2, extending between the transport rollers 5 and the transport units 10, remains in a slightly stretched state when the transport of the web (band) is interrupted. <IMAGE>
