Regulator device for controlling the intensity absorbed by induction apparatuses (motor starting, converter power supply) and for reducing the weight of welding transformers and motors used in portable tools or robotics. This device, which uses neither an auxiliary direct current source nor an adjusting rheostat, is based on the equilibrium between the ampere-turns of a main winding and the ampere-turns of a control winding, these windings being in series. When the voltage drop in the control windings exceeds the threshold voltage of the Zener diodes mounted in parallel, the equilibrium is lost and the self induction reactance of the device greatly increases. This induction regulator, which may be shunted when the current absorbed is stabilised, may be constructed with materials having a high current and induction density and it is, for this reason, very light and very economical. <IMAGE>
