<p>PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound in high yield, without using epichlorohydrin, by using a novel 3-(benzylisopropylamine)-2benzyloxypropanol-1 and dicyclohexylcarbodiimide as raw materials. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula II is prepared by reacting 3-(benzylisopropyl-amino)-2-benzyloxypropanol-1 of formula I (novel compound) with dicyclohexylcarbodiimide. The compound of formula II is reacted with 3-hydroxy-2-methylnitrobenzene and subjected to catalystic reduction to afford a novel compound of formula III, which is made to react with formic acid to obtain a novel compound of formula IV. The compound of formula IV is made to react with potassium tertbutyrate and phosphorus oxychloride, and then with lithium diisopropylamide to obtain the compound of formula V, which is converted to the objective compound of formula VI by hydrolysis.
