PURPOSE:To increase the transmission of a light quantity on a body to be detected, by providing a lengthy recessed part at a substrate supporting body, arranging a light source at the recessed part, and forming the side wall of the recessed part with a material of high reflectance. CONSTITUTION:A transparent substrate 4 is added at a substrate supporting body 17, and on the substrate 4, common electrodes 6a and 6b, a photoelectric transducing part 7, a transparent electrode 8, a pull out electrode 9, and a protecting layer 10 are formed in order. At the substrate supporting body 17, a recessed part 18 is formed in parallel with a photodetector array actually, and plural LED chips 19 are arranged in a main scanning direction in prescribed pitches on the bottom plane of the recessed part 18. A silver tape 18a having high reflectance is stuck on the inner side wall of the recessed part 18, and all of the light emitted from the LED19 are utilized for the illumination of a document 1, reflecting on the side wall of thc recessed part. In this way, the transmission ratio of the light quantity on the body to be detected can be increased without using a bar-shaped lens.
