PURPOSE:To stably obtain a faithful picture element signal by executing a double density read from a polyphase clock drive . one-output type image sensor and adding the read picture element output data and the picture element output data which is read out after that every specified color signal every prescribed chrominance signal. CONSTITUTION:By two-phase clocks phi1 and phi2 outputted from a timing control circuit 2, a picture signal V1 is outputted from the CCD sensor of a color image sensor 1. A signal V2 amplified by an amplifier 3 is converted into R, G and B signals V12' V22 and V32 digitized by sample hold circuits 11, 21 and 31 and A/D converters 12, 22 and 32. The R, G and B signals at the first time are latched by latch circuits 13, 23 and 33 and the latched signals V13' V23 and V33 and R, G and B signals at the second time V12' V22 and V32 are added by addition circuits 14, 24 and 34 and outputted as signals V14' V24 and V34. Thus a faithful picture element signal can be stably obtained.
