PURPOSE:To improve the seal performance of a rotary compressor by providing substantially coaxial two grooves on the open end surface of a cylinder before a grind work is done, thereby utilizing the part between the grooves. CONSTITUTION:Substantially coaxial grooves 3 are formed on the open end surface of a cylinder 1, and a grinding work is applied thereafter, thereby the form of the part between the grooves 3 are resiliently changed. As the part protrudes from the flat surface therearound, if a bearing end board 2 is mounted on the cylinder 1 by means of a bolt 4, this protruding part bites the board 2 as it is deformed. It is thus possible to surely seal the lead from a high pressure part to a suction chamber in a closed vessel by using said protruding part.
