PURPOSE:To prevent a privacy call mode from being recognized by others, and to accurately set the privacy call mode, by performing a communication by the privacy telephone mode set in advance corresponding to recognized input sound. CONSTITUTION:A sound signal from a transmitter 12 is inputted to a speech recognition circuit 2 through an adder circuit 1. The circuit 2 collates the input sound with sound data registered in advance, and recognizes the input sound of a word indicating the kind of the privacy call mode when a coincided data is present, and outputs a recognition data to a control part 3. The control part 3 changes a scramble length, and a descramble length in a privacy telephone set 11, based on the privacy call mode corresponding to an inputted recognition data. As stated above, since the communication is performed by the privacy call mode corresponding to the input sound, at the time of recognizing the input sound, it is possible to prevent the privacy call mode from being recognized by others, and to set it accurately, by corresponding the input of an appropriate word with the privacy call mode.
