PURPOSE:To evaluate the mechanical characteristic of ceramics at 1,400 deg.C or more, by constituting a jig of ceramics comprising an alumina/silica composition wherein an Al2O3/SiO2 wt. ratio is 65/35-80/20, the total amount of impurities other than alumina and silica is 0.5wt% or less in terms of oxide and density is 2.90 or more. CONSTITUTION:A mullite powder of ceramics comprising an alumina/silica composition wherein an Al2O3/SiO2 wt. ratio is 65/35-80/20, the total amount of impurities other than alumina and silica is 0.5wt% or less as oxide and density is 2.90 or more is used and molded into a predetermined jig shape by a cast molding method. Next, the molded body is sintered at 1,500-1,800 deg.C to obtain mullite ceramics which is, in turn, dimensionally shaped by grinding to obtain a jig main body 1 with density of 2.90g/cm<3> or more. By this method, mullite ceramics of which the bending strength is 150PMa or more in a temp. range from room temp. to at least 1,400 deg.C can be obtained, the evaluation for the mechanical characteristic of ceramics can be available at 1,400 deg.C or more.
