PURPOSE:To enable vertically contracted characters to be available at high speed and with high quality by forming a single dot through arithmetic operation of a logic sum per prearranged number of dots arranged in a direction which directly crosses a prearranged direction and transmitting a character pattern consisting of formed dot groups to a recording means, with regard to the character pattern which is read from a storage means. CONSTITUTION:Regarding a single character pattern which is read from CGROM 12 for recording data, for instance, a counter N for minification per one byte is set to 1. Next, the head address of a character pattern area corresponding to the recorded data is read from the CGROM 12. After this, the N-th byte of this character pattern thus read is read and the N-value is set to (+) one step forward. Following this procedure, the logic sum of every 2 bits is sequentially calculated per one byte data in a vertical direction. That is, the logic sum of two dots is calculated to form a single dot, either from top or bottom in a vertical direction, per character pattern which is read by one byte(8 dots). Then this dot is stored into a prearranged address of RAM 3 or a prearranged register or an accumulator of CPU 1. |
