Cleaning method or a cleaning device for parts of internal combustion engines consists essentially of an ultrasonic source with which each of the parts can be acted on with ultrasonic waves via the ambient air or by direct mechanical coupling. Impediments on the operating capacity of the internal combustion engine resulting from icing up or soiling of the components can thus be effectively prevented or eliminated without cleaning fluid or mechanical cleaning means.
