PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer slurry which undergoes no decrease in viscosity, and has a low COD and excellent resistance to cement and to seawater, by mixing an aqueous solution of CMC having a specified degree of polymerization with, e.g., sediment collected in situ. CONSTITUTION:A CMC having an average degree of polymerization of 100 or less, preferably 80 or less, is dissolved in water to give an aqueous solution of CMC (A) of a concentration of 0.8wt% or less, preferably 0.2-0.6wt%. Component A is mixed with, e.g., sediment (B) collected in an excavation site to give a polymer slurry. This polymer slurry is used in a slurry method of construction such as deep underground continuous wall construction, slurry shield tunneling, and cast-in-place piling.
