The invention relates to a coupling unit for connecting the joining means (19, 20) of medium-channelling pipelines, in which unit the respective coupling halves are combined in in each case one carrier plate (1, 2) and in which one (1) of the carrier plates (1, 2), which can be connected to one another in a positively locking manner, is equipped with at least one piston/cylinder unit (16) which can be actuated by pressure medium. The object of the present invention is to provide a coupling unit of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which separate pressing means for the connection of the carrier plates can be dispensed with and the pressing means are only necessary for connecting the joining means. The object is achieved in that one of the carrier plates (2) has a plurality of undercut protrusions (9), the other carrier plate (1) has corresponding slot-shaped cutouts (7) for receiving, in a play-free manner in the longitudinal extent of the protrusions (9), the undercut regions (12) of the protrusions (9), and the extensible part (17) of the piston/cylinder unit (16) receives the joining means (19) which are assigned to said carrier plate (1). <IMAGE>
