PURPOSE:To make it possible to make pattern recognition of characters etc. very simply and at high recognition rate by providing pattern entry frames of the first - third entry guide patterns. CONSTITUTION:The system consists of the second square 32 that inscribes internally near the center of a nearly square outermost frame 31, the third square 33 that inscribes internally near the center of each side of the second square 32 and lines connecting diagonal lines of the second and third squares. Desired characters etc. are inputted by painting out segments between intersections. Each segment can be indicated making each side of the second square 32 A1-A8, each side of the third square 33 B1-B8, segments connecting each diagonal line of the second square 32 C1-C8 and segments connecting each diagonal line of the third square 33 D1-D4, and these segments constitute an input guide graphic. Thus, patterns can be indicated by combination of 28 segments in all.
