In the rivet connection according to the invention there is provided, in one of the workpieces to be connected, a blind hole whose inner wall, exhibiting, if appropriate, undercuts or a thread, is pressed with the material of a rivet shank which, by exerting tension on a pull-through part, is upset and deformed. In this manner, it is possible in a simple manner to connect workpieces without rivets passing through them, for example a plate-type workpiece to a solid workpiece, in a fixed manner such that they do not rattle.
