A tool holder for coupling percussive and/or rotary tools to hand-held power tools, preferably hammer or percussive drills, with a coupling sleeve is proposed, which coupling sleeve is connected on the one hand to a drive member of the hand-held power tool which transmits the working movement, and on the other hand receives a tool shank which can be detachably connected to the coupling sleeve. The coupling sleeve is guided so as to be axially displaceable within a limited region and this region is defined by the axial extent of a cutout, in particular an annular groove, arranged on the drive member, into which cutout engages a ball which is radially displaceable in a bore of the coupling sleeve. On striking the front end (3') of the cutout (3) formed in the drive member (1) preferably as a channel, the ball (12) is obstructed in its radial mobility by a stop face (102). The stop face (102) is formed by a body which engages over the ball (12) radially from outside in the manner of a recess and which is carried by the rear side of the coupling sleeve (116) facing the hand-held power tool. This prevents the tool holder from detaching itself automatically from the drive member whenever it is subjected to powerful unchecked axial impacts, as may occur, for example, with percussive drills running with no load. <IMAGE>
