663,705. Stretcher supports for ambulance vehicles. SOUTHERN, H. SOUTHERN, sen. P., and SOUTHERN, iun., P., (trading as SOUTHERN BROS.). Jan, 19, 1950 [Dec. 30, 1948], No. 33469/48. Class 108(i) A stretcher support for use with a motor ambulance vehicle comprises longitudinal supports 1 of angle or channel section mounted at the front on long links 2, and at the rear on links 3, 4 and 9 pivoted together in parallelogram formation, the links 4 being extended to form a handle frame 5. In the normal stretcher supporting position shown in continuous lines in Fig. 1, the links 2 are inclined forwardly and the longitudinals 1 are horizontal. By pulling on the handle 5 the longitudinals and the links are moved to the dotted line position so that a stretcher may be placed on or removed from the inclined support from the lower end. Cross stays between the links 2 or parts of the links themselves engage with C-shaped spring clips, (not shown), mounted on the floor 7, which clips reduce vibration of the support but release it when the handle 5 is pulled rearwardly. In Figs. 3-5, (not shown), the links 2 are of L-shape whilst at the rear end of the support there is only a short link 3 on each side.
