PURPOSE:To obtain a synthetic lubricating fluid which has a high coefficient of traction and is relatively inexpensive, by incorporating a particular cyclohexanol/cyclohexanecarboxylic acid ester compd. (derivative). CONSTITUTION:1mol of a monohydric alcohol compd. (e.g., cyclohexanol) is esterified with a cyclohexanecarboxylic acid compd. (e.g., cyclohexylacetic acid) in an amt. of 1.2-2 times by mol the amt. of the monohydric alcohol compd. at 150-250 deg.C for 10-40hr to obtain a cyclohexanol/ cyclohexanecarboxylic acid ester compd. or its derivative (A) of the formula (wherein m and n are each 0-5, provided that m+n=1-10; R1 is H or a 1-8C alkyl; and R2 is H or 1-3C alkyl). 1-70wt% branched poly-alpha-olefin having an MW of 500-10,000 (e.g., polybutene) is incorporated in component A. |
