<p>An apparatus to lubricate metal haulage cables having a recirculating system and an enclosure. The enclosure (5) generally comprises: a funnel or beveled shaped entrance (34) urging irregularities on the surface of the cable (19) radially inward towards the entrance opening (36); brushes (51) or curtain means cleaning the surface of the entering cable, an interior load-bearing surface (60) supporting the enclosure; a plurality of high pressure spray nozzles (43) applying heated lubricant to the cable as the cable traverses the enclosure; brushes (51) or curtain means removing excess lubricant from the cable as the cable exits the enclosure; and a funnel-shaped bottom (25) gathering the excess lubricant for recirculation. The spray nozzles spray heated lubricant onto the cable whenever the cable is worked or reeled onto a cable drum (21). The recirculating system recovers, filters, reheats and recycles the excess lubricant. A cleaning cycle enables circulation of a cleaning solvent solution through the system.</p> |
